In this post, I’m sharing a detailed itinerary for a quick 2 day journey. You’ll find a day-by-day breakdown of the places I visited and the highlights I loved to help you craft your own dream adventure.
Of course, Vienna has so many incredible places to see, and while I wish I could have explored more, this itinerary was the perfect fit for my short time. Hopefully, it sparks some ideas and inspires your own unique trip to this beautiful city.
Itinerary Summary:
2 days in Vienna
Booked Activities:
Here is the activity I booked during my trip! I booked the The Austrian National Library ticket day of at the location.
Day 1: City Center
Morning: Start at Austrian Parliament and walk towards Maria-Theresien Platz. Admire the outside then head to Hofburg palace right next to it. Tour the Imperial Apartments and the Sisi Museum to dive into Austria’s royal history. I definitely recommend going into the Austrian National Library to witness one of the most stunning libraries in Europe!
Afternoon: Have lunch at the famous Café Central for delicious Viennese dishes. This cafe is where Freud, and many other famous poets and philosophers would go to.
Evening: Stroll through Kärntner Straße and enjoy Vienna’s bustling pedestrian street with shops and performers. Visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral and dine in the area at Figlmüller for their iconic schnitzel.
Day 2: Classical Vienna
Morning: Visit the beautiful Belvedere Palace and home to Gustav Klimt’s masterpiece, The Kiss.
Afternoon: Stroll through the Naschmarkt, Vienna’s vibrant open-air market, perfect for a light lunch and local treats.
Evening: Spend your last night in Vienna by attending a classical concert at the Vienna State Opera or classical orchestra ensemble. I saw the classical at inside St. Peter’s Cathedral and it was one of the highlights of my trip!
