Welcome to my first blog post!
Deciding to create a travel website and blog has been something I’ve always thought about doing but never become more than just an idea. Fast forward to January 2025, I had just moved to NYC, working for an amazing company, loving my job, living in the cutest apartment, and overall experiencing my dream life. I traveled as much as possible, visiting seven countries in 2024 while maintaining a full time job, and I enjoyed every second of it. My friends and family always asked me, “Where to next?” because I was constantly planning my next adventure.
In just a few months, my program was ending and I would soon be unemployed. I was truly devastated and scared about what to do next. After all, I had just moved to New York City and thought everything was going great. After a week of crying, applying to jobs endlessly, and accepting I could be unemployed for a while, I knew I had to keep myself busy. I asked myself: “What’s something I have always wanted to accomplish? What is something I always wanted to do but never pursued because I didn’t have time or was too busy working? What are some of my biggest goals and aspirations?” Now that I unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) had a lot of free time haha, I realized I always dreamed of being a travel content creator.
I decided to use this time to focus on something I am truly passionate about! As the avid traveler and trip planner amongst my friends, always creating PowerPoint presentations and creating extensive detailed itineraries, I figured why not channel that into a fun passion project, and create a place to share all my trips and document my experiences!
After countless hours on TikTok and Youtube, researching how to even start a travel blog, Amanda’s Postcards was born! The name seemed to suit well since I have an abnormally large collection of postcards from all my trips. This blog is my way of sharing my travel experiences and recommendations, turning my passion into something meaningful and fun. I am excited to be able to share my passion with other people!
Once I finished my website, I also received a job offer with another amazing company! While I work full time again I will continue to share my trips and recommendations, and also not let go of my goals!
